The 2017 model of the Ford C-Max was assessed for safety ratings by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
For the rollover crash test and frontal collision test by NHTSA, the Ford C-Max has rated four stars from five. A 4-star overall safety classification by the NHTSA was granted the newest model. Under the IIHS, the Ford C-Max was assessed as acceptable as a small overlapping front test, but the other crash tests were considered as good and the rating was the highest attainable.
The Ford C-Max is provided with side airbags and knee airbags for drivers to protect passengers during crashes. The new model also has anti-locking and roll-over sensors to give passengers more safety.
